Can We Help Your Child?
Laughlin Center's mission is to help children discover learning success. We are a community resource providing academic support, speech and language therapy, psychological services, and preschool education. Our underlying philosophy is to provide early intervention for children who are struggling to learn the core skills needed for academic success, such as communication, reading, basic math, and written language. We value the whole child, a personal approach with our families, parental involvement, professionalism, diversity, and accessibility to all.
Laughlin Center is a non-profit, privately funded organization that annually helps over 400 children from Allegheny and surrounding counties. The Center was founded in 1956 and serves children from preschool through middle school. Our educational services include individual tutoring in reading, math, and study skills, as well as small group programs and a preschool. We also offer speech and language therapy and child and family counseling. Laughlin Center is a participating provider for many insurance companies for speech and counseling services. We help children obtain services regardless of their families' income by annually awarding financial aid in excess of $50,000.
Our Center's professional staff members are certified in their areas of expertise: education, psychology, social work, speech pathology, or early childhood development. They thoroughly assess each child and devise an individualized plan based on that child's unique needs and strengths. Everyone at Laughlin Center is dedicated to creating confident learners who will be productive citizens.
